Elle, la ville

Seine, Paris, France, 2026

"In French, the city is a woman. I followed her through Paris, from stillness into light."

In this series, movement becomes the thread that ties identity to the city. The journey begins in stillness, with femininity held in iron, shaped and fixed by others, and slowly moves into life, into crowds, into light and finally into pure motion.

The woman returns three times: as ornament, as a living presence and as a figure taking flight. Each time she is less defined by the city’s forms and more by her own movement.

For me, this is what identity means: not something given, but something carried and reshaped with every step. Paris becomes a mirror of that journey, a city that seems eternal, yet never stands still.

The city rises around her, heavy with stone and history, then dissolves into crowds, into dusk, into the glow of lamps where a golden woman takes flight above the river. By night, even the city’s most fixed symbol begins to move.

Identity, like the city, is never still: it is carried, worn, and reinvented with every step.
